Highlights

  • Director of Development at Commerce Properties Management
  • President at Advent Property Advisors

Jeff has long involvement in the real estate world. At the age of fifteen he was hired to work for a real estate company in their information systems. Jeff became an investor in real estate in 1996, and his long association with investment and real estate made a natural transition when he accepted a fulltime position with Commerce Properties Management in August of 2005 as Director of Development. In that capacity, he has shepherded projects from entitlement, improvement, and completion or sale in every class of asset: raw land, storage units, offi ce, industrial, and multi-family residential.

While at CPM, and now as President at Advent Property Advisors, he oversees or has helped develop more than 425,000 square feet of office space, 2300 storage units, 2400 acres of raw land, and nearly 400 units of multi-family apartments. The value of the projects Jeff has overseen has exceeded one hundred and fifty million dollars.

Through the skills and experience he has acquired, Jeff has extensive experience in nearly all aspects of property development and asset management. These skills are necessary at the earliest phase of a project, when he performs due diligence when acquiring properties and determining their highest and best use. It continues when obtaining the necessary municipal approvals for entitling the project and hiring the third party experts who need to provide submittals. Simultaneously, he identifies sources of equity and prepares financial information for submitting loan packages. When managing existing properties, he reviews property performance data and makes necessary changes to make sure the property is performing optimally.

Prior to his full-time involvement in real estate, Jeff had extensive business experience, primarily in the technology area. He has found these skills very valuable in his current position. He started his own custom development and technology integration company that is still in business today, 16 years later. Then, while living in the Washington, DC area, he was involved in the early stages of two venture-funded software start-ups. After relocating to Utah, Jeff accepted a position on the Board of Directors of a publicly-traded software company, and eventually as appointed President.

Jeff also has extensive experience in the non-profit sector, where he volunteers a considerable amount of time. He attended both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah for undergraduate coursework, and he eventually obtained his Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah. He has published several articles in trade journals and holds several technical certifications.
